The best place for the “NEWBORN” to be located is in Dragodan, it would be placed in a similar position as the Hollywood sign, which can also be seen from many positions in Prishtina. Just my opinion and it seems many on here share it with me.

I think it should go on “Kalaja e Prizrenit” overlooking the League of Prizren. The newest symbol in the eldest town, former capital of Kosovo.
Peshendtje,disa ide jan fantastike ,Si vendosja ne ndonji ndertese te larte(Ku duket nga Aeroplani);Veterniku, eshte ide e mire gjithashtu por edhe terasa e ish (nuk e di si thirret tani)”Boro e Ramizit”,aty ku gjithnji mblidhen te rinjet.Me rendesi eshte qe para se te vendoset cdo shkronje duhet te LAMINOHET (te mbeshtjellet me leter plastike te tejdukshme),qe te ruhen te gjitha nenshkrimet si shenje qe do te ngelet nji kohe te gjate .Sepse sipas mendimit tim interesimi i popullit sa vjen e humbet(psh pas 10 viteve kur te pranojne te gjitha shtetet apo te anetaresohemi ne UE),Atehere, pra pas 10 viteve ajo duhet te vendoset ne oborrin e muzeut kombetare,dhe aty te pushoj si rritur e jo me NEWBORN.

Newborn should be placed in a location where can be seen from most parts of Prishtina. A an idea it could be put on a hill which has similarity with the Hollywood sign.

First off, I want to thank the artists for this great idea. It is amazing. Even here in Canada everyone is associating Kosova wih NEWBORN.
I cant help but think what would happen to BEWBORN in the rain? It be best to keep it safe under some kind of shelter so the rain/snow in the winter does not erase all the signatures.
As for its location, I would suggest in Rugova or anywhere that it can be kept safe.

It would be really nice to share the sculpture with the rest of Kosovo too. There are two ways this might happen:
1) do a brief summer tour of the sculpture, housing it in for a week at a time in other cities. i’m sure that this would be very expensive, but i’m also sure that many other towns would be very proud to host the sculpture for even a short time in their town squares.
2) or, don’t even try to house the sculpture permanently in one place. instead, take each individual letter and house them separately in 7 different museums or institutions throughout kosovo in permanent exhibits that explain their origins. this would be a way for the sculpture to have a widespread and ongoing impact throughout the region, rather than just in one place, and everyone would be able to feel a direct connection to the event that it signified.

Mendoj se Newborn-i duhet te udhetoj neper te gjitha qytetet e Kosoves. Kishte me qene shume interesant me ju jap shansin te gjithe femijeve te shkollave fillore edhe atyre me te vegjlive neper qytetet e tyre me pase nga nje fotografi me kete monument shume interesant, modern edhe domethanes.
Make it happend! Dergojeni nga nje jave neper te gjitha qytetet e Kosoves. Mendoj se se pari duhet te shkoj ne Skenderaj ose Prekaz…pastaj te filloj ne te gjitha qytetet ne baze te rendit alfabetik ose me terheqje te emrave nga dikush qe eshte figure publike…psh kryueministri apo Murat Jashari apo dikush tjeter.
Kjo konsiston edhe te ideja per nje show pak ma urban edhe jo shume serioz ku duhet te jene NEWBORN personeli edhe njerzit qe kane kontribuar shume per kete dite (17) dhe te vendosin se si ka me udhetu ky monument. Show mundet me u organizu n’ RTK si televizion publik…

Thanks tons for your replies and suggestions. Some ideas have been good, some have been great. We’re still contemplating about NEWBORN’s final resting place, however we do appreciate all the comments.
Few things to keep in mind are that…
* NEWBORN signatures will remain because they represent the signing of the Declaration of the Independence by the people.
* There won’t be a placement on a high place or a hill, because the size of an individual letter is 3 meters high, which from far would not allow for it to be seen. (Letters on the Hollywood sign are 15 meters high - 5 times higher than NEWBORN).
* Most likely NEWBORN will stay in Prishtina.
* Everything on the NEWBORN will remain the same - the only thing that will change is its location (if that).

As a side note we are trying to filter and remove comments that stray away from what we’re discussing at hand. Please, be considerate and remember that NEWBORN is an artwork and even though it marks a specific day in history of a country it is a sculpture made by few artists.

I think that original should be copyed ones for every KOSOVA`S town .Original should be staying befor Scanderbeg monument in Prishtina.In Mitrovica, river Iber befor brige one copy is required! Next year this monumnet should have near by number 1,…AFTER 150 YEARS NEWBORN 150 yrs etc

A new idea. If signatures on NEWBORN wouldn’t stay for long I wonder would it be a good idea every letter of NEWBORN to paint in different bright metallic rainbow colours?
A new proposal. I’ve heard that soon in spring in Lakrishte area they might start building 5 skyscrapers about 40 floors high. What about putting NEWBORN on top of one of them?

it would be nice to leave it in a city center, Nena Tereze boulevard… only there it will be the part of the city everywhere else it will be like TITO slogan in Peja (look at it but dont feel it)… no one will take a tour to go somewhere far away to feel it later… it’s the best to leave it somewhere in the city even the university library space is a good place to leave it… and I have even a radical idea to leave it like it is with firms and leave it to people to write any time on it (it will be more interactive and will live longer)…

Hi all,
New born is a symbol of New Kosova, thousands of people have contributed, many of them have signed with their blood in the streets, fields and mountains of Kosova. Unfortunately, most of them can not sign - Good Blessed Them! Evereone who has been part of this generation and want to leave a trace on that should be able to do it. Those signatures are a testimony of the emotions of the greatest moment for the Kosova and Kosovars history. Generations to come should be able to touch this emotions lively in that monument. As per the place, I am an albanian from Albania, I have not been in Prishtina yet - for sure I will visit it in the near future, but it should be some place well thought, visible - leave this to architects (not politicians) to find the best place.

Vetem nje koment. NEWBORN dukej shume shume me mire pa nenshkrime. Nuk e kuptoj se si mund te zhgarravitet mbi nje veper arti dhe e kujt ka qene ideja? Duket shume primitive me gjithe ato zhgarravina me indinjojne. Une propozoj qe te pastrohet sa me pare te te behet sic ka qene ne perurim. Ideja qe te vihet ne nje vend te larte eshte fantastike.

Regarding the “air visitors” I think that in order to do that, our Government should donate some more money and make another “NEWBORN” which should be 2-3 times bigger than it is currently; that’s the best option. Then, the original one (with signs in it), could be send near “Zahir Pajaziti.”

NEWBORN has been a thrill throughout - from conception to now and beyond - we’re considering all ideas we’re getting and very soon we’ll make up our minds on NEWBORN’s final location.
All ideas are great, especially the ones suggesting the Hollywood concept, however the Hollywood letter’s are some 5 times bigger which support its visibility from afar.
At the moment we’re considering locations in and around the city where visitors can experience NEWBORN more personally & we’re currently scouting locations that can support this wish/plan/idea.

I think that NEW BORN should be placed at the beside Amalfi Restauran (in Dragodan-Arberia) so it can be seen from all around the City.

i would suggest to keep in a covered place otherwise keeping it in the open will cause a mess due to the huge amount of ink in it.
About Idea for putting “NEW BORN” in Veternik - it’s good but it’s not important only putting it there but have in mind the infrastructure. Because i think that there must be enough space first, a good park, and a good road to go there. So can Veternik fulfill these conditions?
Think for other minor elements that can make NEW BORN even more perfect.

I am not so sure how the current location fits with Prishtina’s urban planning, but I think it is the best place where it can be, if we think in terms of people who visit Prishtina, as that is one of the most frequently used roads.
I really wouldn’t mind it being somewhere in Dragodan.If only Dragodan was still like it was before the war (only houses - no flats, no high buildings). Before the war from most of places in Prishtina I was able to spot my own house in Dragodan. Now it is not just difficult, but impossible too, because of all the new, giant flats and houses and buildings.
I really like the idea of the HOLLYWOOD writing, I want the NEWBORN statue to look just like that. To be a piece by which Prishtina will be recognized.
I am strongly against the idea of the statue being put somewhere in the main boulevard. Firstly, it is a very modern and cool masterpiece and wouldn’t suit the trend of historical people on that boulevard. Secondly, I think that boulevard is OVERloaded anyway.
I heard some rumours about it being split, and letters being distributed to different citites in the Republic of Kosova(how cool is this? “THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVA”). I hope this won’t be the case, as the statue will lose all its meaning and its artistic value.

The idea of creating such magical symbol is just as good as never crossed to our minds,almost perfect. A symbol that you can revive feelings of the independence day anytime you see it. the actual position of the Newborn is just good enough, at least for some days having it as close as we feel the independence day (such a historical day), although my opinion regarding the next place to be placed is the Dragodan (new constructing buildings area)that can create a perfect view of the capital city. However for now it should stay there as it reminds us that “day” and excites us too.

I like it right where it is. I’ve never been in Prishtina, but it looks a nice place to put it.
First of all, may everyone enjoy our newborn state. I think that NEWBORN should stay somewhere high though. And proposals like Veternik or Dragodan are perfect.
How about somewhere high ground, like Dragodan, so it can be seen like you see HOLLYWOOD in LA.

I think it should be left exactly where it is now because it has more significance that way. That was the EXACT place where people joined, celebrated and signed it; therefore it will have a bigger impact and it would be historically more significant not to be moved.
I just wish I was there to have been able to sign my name on it.
I believe it would loose its essence if you move it.
I cannot express how happy I am for Kosovo’s independence. I believe that NEWBORN should be moved on top of the mountain so everybody can see it! It would also make Pristina even more beautiful than it is! GOD BLESS KOSOVO!

I also love John Mcckrk’s idea about placing it with its face to the sky but I understand that it is more important to be seen by people on the ground.
So Ramadan Gagica and the crew you should do something for our air visitors, it doesn’t have to be something about independence perse but a simple ‘Welcome to Kosova’ note would be just wonderful. How about the mountain (forgot its name) next to the airport or on a giant field decorated with greenery or flowers or other by means all year round.

It would be nice to be placed in the Veternik area, because it is visible to everone leaving the city, and they can place it in an area where people can see when they enter the city.. I think it is the best possible area to place it..
Another good place would be by Dragodan where the US military was stationed in 1999 when Nato got in. That particular area is pretty visible to people from all over the city. I dont like the location where it is now, because of the fact that you’d have to go inside the city to actually see it..

I also like the idea of Janez Mikulic! Another place where it would perfectly fit is exactly at the circle (Te Rrethi). Usually foreign people come to Prishtina for diplomatic/business issues - so, “te Rrethi” is another good idea.
Why not Arberia (-ish Dragodan)? It’s a perfect place, but it would only be seen within Prishtina; can’t be seen from people who just use Prishtina’s road (near Hotel Victory) as a transaction road to Mitrovica.

Well in slovenia we do not have anything like that that would remind us the independece but your idea of having a such statue or monument is great.
I was in prishtina 2 years ago and i think that this monument would be perfectly fit near Hotel Baci in the entrance of Pristina.

First of All, Congratulation for The Indenpendence of Kosova. I wish to the NEWBORN state in the world a long live, and may everything be fullfiled in its future. Secondly, I great for a wonderful and great job made for the project. And thirdly I think that NEWBORN belong to Every Kosovar, so I think it would be good if it could be placed somewhere where every tourist, Kosovar, and other foreigners that come to the Republic of Kosova, could see it. My proposal is that it should be placed in the Mountains, or somewhere where it can bee seen from everywhere.
P.S. I agree also with Ramadan.
I also think that top of Veterrnik will be the ideal place for NEWBORN and I totally agree with Ramadan that it would be similar to Hollywood sign…though the colors are the same :)!
that hill in dragodan that is currently being turned into a shithole by people forcing shitty buildings in there. it’d be a great view from the city…i think.
For the time being,,it should be placed by the bridge in Mitrovica,,,remind the Serbs of our great achievement…OUR MOTHER LAND. (something to remind them with)

It should be on top of one of the hills around/in Prishtina. Veternik, Kodra e trimave (Vranjevc), Kodra e diellit, Arberi. This way it can be seen from afar.
I think the best place possible is on top of the GAZIMESTAN
I think the best place to put the Newborn would be of course in the main boulevard. I think there is plenty of space to put it close to the Zahir Pajaziti statue, blocking the road, where ‘granit’ and ‘korzo’ starts. In this way, in one end of the road you would have the Statue of Skenderbeg, and in the other the Newborn monument. Don’t like the ideas of putting it in some neighborhood as the center is always the most visited location by locals and internationals.
VETERRNIK is the best place possible. You can put it on the top of Veterrnik, where you can see from all places in Prishtina.
It can be seen from:
- Comming from Skopje to Prishtina
- Going from Prishtina to Skopje
- From Fushe Kosova’s Highway (both directions)
- Center
- Top of Vranjevc
- Arberia (-ex Dragodan)
- Dardania
- Ulpiana
- Bregu i Diellit I
So, top of Veterrnik is the ideal place for NEWBORN - everyone could see it; it’s like seeing Hollywood!

NEWBORN should be put maybe in the Students Centre in Prishtina, there is a lot of space and bares a lot of significance.

The word itself has a great meaning in hundred ways. It really fits Kosova. Every time you use a big word like this you feel like you are on top of the mountain and I personally think that it should stand somewhere on top of the hill. But at the end hey we got what we wanted and it really does not matter where it stands as long as it stands and we stand for it. You did a great job with this project.
