Newborn Wins Yet Another Award

Ogilvy Kosova wins yet another Silver at the 2008 Eurobest Advertising Festival in Stokholm in the Environmental Design Category. The 2008 Eurobest Silver Trophy happily joins his other sister-awards in the trophy shelves of Ogilvy Kosova; three other ones being from: Cannes Lions (Gold) in Cannes-France, Golden Drum (Grand Prix) in Portorož-Slovenia, and Clio (Silver) in Miami.

Shortlisted at the 2008 London International Awards

After grabbing a Silver Clio in Miami, Florida; a Gold Lion, in Cannes France; and a Golden Drum Grand Prix in Slovenia; NEWBORN gets listed as a finalist at this year’s London International Awards that will be held on Monday, November 10th at the Hippodrome venue in London.

NEWBORN Wins Golden Drum Grand Prix in Slovenia

NEWBORN wins a Golden Drum Grand Prix at the 15th Golden Drum Advertising Festival in Portorož, Slovenia.

Double Win for Ogilvy Kosova

On June 17th Fisnik Ismaili (Executive Creative Director) of Ogilvy Kosova receives a phone-call late at night from Cannes Lions telling him he has to fly out early in the morning to Cannes to collect Gold for the NEWBORN.

There’s few things in life you can say you’ve done, or rather there’s few things you can add to your “Things I want to do before I reach 30″ list - Gold in the Permanent Environmental Category at Cannes Lions would have topped that. Gold in Cannes comes to Prishtina and joins its buddy Silver Clio received few weeks back in Miami, Florida.

The team at Ogilvy and all who worked on this monument that represents a day etched deep in history of Kosova are proud to say that they were once part of this art piece that moved hearts, and still electrifies chills on my neck.

Writing & talking about this feat seems not to fulfill my appetite towards NEWBORN. Simply enjoying the moment and smiling back in pride seems nice enough to simply say ‘wow’ with a cute little question mark for an intonation.

Enjoying the Breeze

NEWBORN is growing up and enjoying the breeze outside. I haven’t passed along there in awhile, but to refresh my memory I plan to walk down there and see if anything has changed. I know there’s few spray-painted marks done by some few weeks back, which remind me that nothing is invincible. We must work and protect all that we stand for.

Cheers.

Kosova is Born.

Dreams Do Come True

Everything happens for a reason and good things do happen. I’ve witnessed many things in my personal life that have changed me and helped me grow. There’s much more to live and learn, but this moment in time I believe has changed us all and helped us see ourselves as a country that is free and ready to meet its challenges and obstacles just so it climb right up to the top and see itself as part of the group of nations that fully enjoy its freedom and sovereignty.

There’s no words that can describe the feeling you get when people walk by and talk loud and clear about NEWBORN and its meaning to Kosova. My father said - “This sculpture marks the independence of Kosova.”

Yes, the Declaration of Independence was signed by the members of the parliament of Kosova on February 17, 2008 around 4pm. On the other side of the town, people had a chance to sign that same Declaration through the NEWBORN Sculpture.

Typography above typography, this art piece marks the beginning of a new era in the history of people of Kosova, and I mean getting chills is not enough. Dropping down and recklessly yelling out unarticulated sounds could be well enough the exhilaration you get from this.

I salute all who worked on this and those who made it come to life by signing it.

Cheers.

Million Dollar Baby

Fisi…having a meltdown after the touchdown and Feeling Good.

It’s all in the air

NEWBORN is here. As we were all lined up trying to unveil this amazing sculpture in downtown Prishtina, people were anticipating its appearance throughout the day. Thousands of people lined up from early on just to wait up until 6:30 in the afternoon to witness this great moment in history.

Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good” started playing as everyone awaited the climax. I personally thought that people would respect the nicely lined-up barricades along the sides, however as soon as the helium-filled yellow balloons flew way up in Prishtina’s cold night sky - the masses jumped over the fences just to sign the letters with black permanent markers. Not even three-meter long letters could stop people from climbing way up and making their mark. As far as I go - I placed a mark symbolizing my love for someone (let me keep that personal).

For me NEWBORN represents not only the independence, but my own rebirth as well. I feel refreshed by this event and I know many touched upon this chilling effect - Rebirth & Resurrection.

Many years from now we will look back on this day as the day that marked our new beginning. A beginning that proved to be an amazing feat for all.

I salute all those who participated one way or another. I was as close as I could ever get to the Prime Minister and the President of Kosova through the NEWBORN sculpture. It’s a amazing rush!
