NEWBORN Shortlisted for Clio Award

clio_award.gifOgilvy Kosova has been shortlisted in the 49th Annual Clio Award Festival, the world leading awarding body for advertising, design and interactive. NEWBORN is in the short list of contenders in Design Category. (www.clioawards.com)

Every year, over 30 000 best adverts, campaigns, designs and websites compete for a Clio, and only a handful receives one.

It is said that “What Oscar is to movies and Grammy is to music, Clio is to advertising”. It is a great honour for us to reach this far.

Some of our team members will attend the Clio Festival in South Beach, FL, on 14-17 May, hoping to come back with a gleaming Clio statue. :)

Keep your fingers crossed, root and cheer for NEWBORN’s latest international success.

FLORIDA, HERE WE COME!!!

NEWBORN is a monument marking the Kosova Declaration of Independence Day, 17 February 2008.

Made of steel, weighing about 9 tonnes, NEWBORN is 3m high, 22m long and 1m thick.

First to put their signatures into NEWBORN in black permanent markers were Kosovar President, Fatmir Sejdiu, and Prime-Minister, Hashim Thaçi, at 18:30 (GMT+1), 17 Feb 2008, followed by thousands of other people celebrating on the day, until 24:00.

NEWBORN has become a historical symbol and is now under the protection of the Government of Kosova.

It took 10 days for the creators, Ogilvy Kosova, to give birth to NEWBORN, from idea to final product.

NEWBORN has become the shrine for the team who created it. Every one of us has to see it at least once a day in order to recharge ourselves with that feeling of peace, excitement, love and pride all intertwined in one.

It was a Masterpiece though!

It has to be “huge“, it must be particular, unique even better.

Everybody wanted to be included, everyone wanted to participate in a way or another just to feel it from near enough so to say loudly and proudly “I even was part of it!“.

Our NEWBORN seems to have raised very much attention, gained a lot of reputation. We are proud of ourselfs for this creature, even I personally feel proud that I helped in in one way or another. It’s something that can never be forgotten.
Joy and happiness is floating above us as those yellow-helium-filled balloons flew up on Prishtina’s sky that night.
I hope that we, you, everybody, in particular people of Kosova enjoy this newborn life within their newborn country.

In a nutshell, on behalf of NEWBORN today we’ve created a new page on this blog on which we are going to include every possible edge we can be aware of where NEWBORN sculpture has been posted, filmed, mentioned at least, let that be a whole article, a small paragraph and/or even a single word though.

Hence, here it is, visit the Newborn on the Media page and enjoy exploring.

Update: seems that the term NEWBORN was very quickly absorbed by the people and every one who displayed something about Kosova that day referred to it usually with this term.
Google proves it more if you wanna know ;)

Inseparable!

There has always been something that tightened us together and made us inseparable.

Our flag never touched the ground, red & black has perpetually been highly appraised.
On the independence day the same happened, hundreds of people kept the flag off the ground and carried it with kilometers.
We put a sign on memory (foto credit to Muja).

We’ve got it on the ground

While my colleague Valoni describes about the ongoings in the capital city of NEWBORN state Kosova, in Prishtina, I am going to counter-report for the celebrity events in the second most important city of Kosova, my hometown Prizren.

Although in almost every edge of the land festivity activities were present today, each part had prepared something special on their own way.
People mobs who went out to celebrate today with the whole nation were astonishing. From the population that gushed on the roads, proper movement virtually was made impossible. Cheerings, music, national dancing, fire-works, inscriptions, sutures, everything looked wonderful. Dressed up in various ways, covered by national flags, characteristic two-color hats, with national turfs on heads, old and youth, men and women, attended today in the downtown of the city, in Shadervan to be more exact, marched through the roads and all around the city.
Everything emerged it’s beauty, but above all, the most spectacular ones actually were the presence of persistent and inexhaustible smilies in people faces. Everybody seemed to be so overjoyed.
Even the cold weather didn’t keep them away from celebrating the most important event, so long expected, this unforgettable day that was pinned today on each ones mind, the day to be remembered within all generations, a footprint in history.

Everyone surprised with something unique on his/her own, nevertheless, the most impressive surprise was the appearance of the longest national flag ever seen. With a height of 3500m carried from nearly 1200 persons it began from the suburban part of the town and was lifted and waived until to the monumental complex of the Albanian League of Prizren. It was amazing, hilarious, indescribable, not only exciting but also emotionally very touchy.

Finally, among all other beauties I managed to get a shot of this beauty too. A picture is worth a thousand words, a wonder that speaks for itself. She reminds me of Shote Galica.
